Yes, you can join PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) after 12th (with PCB/PCM) or after BPharm. Career options are clinical pharmacist, hospital pharmacist, drug safety associate, research, pharmacovigilance, and jobs abroad. It is worth it if you are interested in medicine, patient care, and research .
Hii sanjana!
According to the pharmacy council of India you must have passed 10 + 2 with physics chemistry and biology or mathematics, or hold a D. Pharma for ( a 6 year Pharma. D. entry) Or a B.Pharma ( for 3 year post baccalaureate Pharm. D.) for joining Pharma. D.
Career prospects- after Pharma. D. you can work as clinical pharmacist in hospitals, pharmacovigilance and drug safety officer, drug inspector, clinical research associate, medical writer or healthcare analyst, teacher in pharmacy and with licensing pharmacist abroad .
Pharma D. is worth it if you want a clinical patient focused career with good scope in India and excellent opportunities abroad. It is recognised as a doctoral degree which has higher career growth then B. Pharma. But it is a 6 years long, fees are higher and in India not all hospitals fully utilise clinical pharmacist yet. Still its demand is growing steadily so long term value is strong.
