Yes, you can take admission in Computer Science without an entrance exam, depending on the type of course and college. If you're going for BCA or B.Sc. Computer Science, many private universities and some government colleges allow direct admission based on your 12th class marks. But for B.Tech in Computer Science, most reputed colleges ask for entrance exam scores like JEE Main, state CET, or their own university entrance tests.

Make sure the college is UGC/AICTE approved and offers good placements. If you're not sure about exams, consider doing a course in BCA—it also has good career options in software, IT support, and development.

Hello Aspirant,

Yes, you can often get Computer Science admission without an entrance exam , especially in:

  • Private Universities: Many accept students based on their Class 12th marks (PCM).

  • Deemed Universities: They also frequently offer direct admissions.

  • Management Quota: Some colleges provide seats via management quota, usually for a higher fee, bypassing entrance tests.

Examples include JIIT, Thapar, UPES. Government colleges almost always require entrance exams.

Hello aspirant,

Indeed, admission to a computer science program—more especially, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program—can be obtained without completing an entrance exam.  Merit-based admissions are offered by many schools and universities, which means that your performance on exams from the 12th grade (or above) is taken into account.  Even if an entrance exam is not required, some colleges may still use in-person interviews or group discussions as a component of the admissions process.
