Dear Lombi, as long as the University is recognised, you are eligible for NET/JRF exams. The certificate of Post Graduation should be awarded by an Indian University. The Master's degree should be completed from recognised Indian Universities from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. You can check the list at: www.aiuweb.org

NET JRF (National Eligibility Test for Junior Research Fellowship) is one of the most popular schemes started by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Earlier conducted by the CBSE, NET JRF is now conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) on behalf of UGC twice in a year, i.e., during the months of June and December/January.

To get admitted/registered in M.Phil/PhD, a candidate needs to qualify NET JRF. And, the eligibility conditions for appearing for NET JRF exam are as follows:

• The applicants who have obtained master’s degree or equivalent with 55% marks are eligible for NET JRF.
• The upper age limit is 30 years for the award of JRF (NET), which is relaxed up to 5 years for SC/ST/PWD/female candidates and 3 years for OBC category candidates.
• Students in the final year of master’s program or waiting for its result can also apply for the exam.
• Ph.D. degree holders who completed their master’s degree before September 19, 1992 are given relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks.
