Hello aspirant,
The Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change is home to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an entity established by statute in India. The Water (Prevention and Control of pollution) Act of 1974 allowed for its establishment. The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 grants the CPCB additional authority and responsibilities. In accordance with the terms of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, it performs the functions of a field formation and offers technical services to the Ministry of Environment and Forests. It provides technical support and direction, arbitrates conflicts amongst the State Pollution Control Boards, and coordinates their efforts.
Thank you
