Creative process in art therapy? Stages.
Dear Aspirant,
The cycles of creative process are:
a) Beginning- Here the therapist envisions the creative process and begins setting up the space. An opening ritual is done to make the client more comfortable and the container of self-expression is built.
b) Moving in: Here, the therapeutic relationship is established. The trust levels are deepened. Fear or hesitation of the client is acknowledged by the therapist. The therapist encourages the client to proceed whose inner critic is leading to the prevalent hesitation.
c) Insearch: the client finally is lost in the artwork. The state is characterized by deep focus and an altered state of consciousness. There is also an element of surprise that is unexpected and is revealed in the drawing.
d)Finding Voice- This is a stage marked by honesty and courage where the client indulges in self-expression and gives form to the artwork
e) Sharing with the outside world: The artwork is then archived and the story is shared with the society.
Hope this helps.
