Hello!!!

Hope you are doing great!!!!

In 1787,Jacques Charles experimentally studied the relationship between the volume of a fixed mass of an enclosed dry gas and the temperature , when the pressure of the gas was kept constant through out the experiment.

Pressure of an enclosed mass of  dry gas remaining constant, the volume of the gas is directly proportional to its kelvin temperature(absolute temperature)

Thus ,if V is the volume of an enclosed mass of dry gas and T is the kelvin temperature, then

V is directly proportional to T

V/T = K           [K is the constant of proportionality]

Now,if we consider V1 as the volume of gas at T1 (K) and V2 the volume of gas at T2(K) ,Such that pressure of the given mass of dry gas remains constant, then

V1 is directly proportional to T1

V2 is directly proportional to T2

V1/T1 = K

V2/T2 = K

Therefore V1/T1 = V2/T2

The above equation is called Charles law

hope it helps!!!!
