Different types of Binary fission -

1. Simple binary fission/Irregular binary fission - Division can occur via any plane. Eg. Amoeba

2. Longitudinal binary fission - Division occurs by splitting along the longitudinal axis of the organism. Eg. Euglena

3. Transverse binary fission - Plane of division is along the transverse axis of the organism. Eg. Planaria, Paramoecium, Diatoms

4. Oblique binary fission - Plane of division lies at an angle to the transverse axis. Eg. Ceratium, Gonyaulax
