No, it is not a good idea. First of all, why are you planning to drop for 2 years? There is no such hard and fast rule that if your drop for 2 years to prepare for JEE mains, you would get a good rank. It comes with its share of uncertainties that would lead to wastage of time and the years you could have put into your graduation. If you are eager to get into NIT, start preparing for it from standard 11 itself.
Coming to the second part, every student has his/her own pace by which they learn. What might take you 1 year to learn might take someone else 2 years to learn. So you need to decide according to your speed of learning.
My opinion would not be to give a drop, that too of 2 years. You might not be able to understand the loss now but that would affect later on. Even if you have planned for a drop, kindly do not extend beyond a year.
