Hello Aspirant,

The bed block is generally cast with M-15 grade concrete reinforced with steel bars of area equal to 0.3% of the cross-sectional dimensions and distributed as mesh reinforcement near the top and bottom of the bed block.

A reinforced concrete bed block resting over the top of the piers & abutments is generally provided to evenly distribute the dead and live loads on the pier and abutments.
