explain why rusting of iron objects is faster in coastal area than in desert area
Both air and moisture required for rusting to take place.ln coastal areas, the quantity of moisture present in air is more than that in desert. In desert area, the amount of moisture air is even lower. Therefore, rusting of iron object is faster in coastal areas then in desert.
Hi,
Rusting of Iron is more in coastal areas is higher than any desert areas is because in coastal areas the amount of moisture in air is more than compared to desert areas and rusting happens faster when iron comes in contact with high amounts of moisture.
Hope this helps!
Hello Student ,
Let us first know about the chemical reaction of rusting
Iron + Water + Oxygen all these result in formation of Rust
4Fe(s) + 6H2O(l) + 3O2(g) → 4 Fe(OH)3(s)
Then Fe(OH)3 undergoes dehydration to produce Fe2O3.nH2O(s).Chemical formula for rust is Fe2O3.nH2O .
In coastal areas humidity and moisture in air is more compared to desert areas and thus rusting becomes much for faster as all the components required in rust formation are available.
