The given equation is :-

ax^2 + bx + c = 0 (and it has a condition that the leading coefficient that is a is not equal to zero.)

Then this equation is called quadratic equation.
Now, for a quadratic equation, the discriminant (D) is found out by the help of a simple formula.

According to this equation D = square root of ( b^2 - 4ac)

So, with this formula you can find the discriminant of any quadratic equation.
