Hello Shrihari,
One cannot predict the rank vs marks for any year as the rank of JEE MAIN depends on many factors such as level of questions, how many wrong questions do JEE MAIN ask, the total number of applicants, etc.
But to stay on the safer side you should prepare for at least 225–230 marks which will easily fetch you a bright rank of 5000 approximately.
Good luck!
Hi, marks and ranking relation is changing year to year. And this relation is completely depends on the results in every year. So for this year also you can get exact marks after releasing the results. But there is no big difference in this relation. So for 5000 ranking you may get near about 200-230 marks. Results will be declared in 1 st week of Feb.

Hello shrihari.
Ranking in JEE mains depends alot on the level of the paper, whether it is difficult, moderate or easy. For a moderate paper with not many tricky questions, you should score around 220 to get a rank near 5000.If the paper has some tricky questions or is lengthy or a bit above moderate as of 2018,a score of 205-210 would give you a rank near 5000.Hope this was helpful to you.You can also check out this link for help https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-rank
