Hello there,

Yes, you can apply for the M.Sc. in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics program at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) even if you did not study Mathematics in your 11th and 12th grades.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational Background : A Bachelor's degree in any branch of Biological Sciences, Physical/Chemical Sciences, or Mathematical/Computational Sciences. Degrees such as B.Sc., B.Tech/BE, B.Pharm, B.Agri, and B.VSc are accepted.

  • Subject Areas : Fields like Life Sciences (e.g., Botany, Genetics, Zoology), Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Agriculture, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Veterinary Sciences are considered eligible. English. (https://www.biotecnika.org/2025/03/ibab-msc-programme-in-biotechnology-and-bioinformatics-admissions-2025/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)

  • Academic Performance : An aggregate score of at least 50% for general category candidates and 45% for reserved category candidates in the Bachelor's degree.

  • Final Year Students : Students in the final semester of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria and submit the required documents before the specified deadline.

While Mathematics in 11th and 12th is not a mandatory requirement, the entrance examination for the program includes sections on Mathematics and logical reasoning, with questions at the Class XII level.  Therefore, having a background in Mathematics can be beneficial for the entrance test.
