Hello Archana!
Ever since the advent of NEET 2017, all the medical seats have been filled on the basis of NEET score. The entire medical field has lots of options other than MBBS. BDS which is bachelor of dental science and AYUSH courses (Ayurveda - BAMS, Yoga and Naturopathy- BYNS, Unani- BUMS, Siddha- BSMS and Homeopathy- BHMS) were found to tackle with the increase in problems due to lifestyland diseases. These courses provide alternative routes for medicine and well being.
The admission to these courses occur through NEET itself. Here is where the cut-off marks for NEET become relevant. Once NTA announces NEET results and cut-off marks which are the marks obtained by individual with 50th percentile. If you score more than the said marks, you are deemed qualified for NEET and you can appear for counselling to any of the above courses. BDS counselling occurs with the counselling to MBBS courses, for various private and government colleges. Therefore, to get admission into a BDS course, you will have to fill for All India and/or State counselling of your respective state.
Same goes for BHMS and other AYUSH courses. There counselling would be parallel to counselling for MBBS and BDS courses. The minimum marks required for qualifying NEET were different over the years. For 2018, they were 119 and for 2017 they were 131. These were qualifying marks for unreserved category. Cut offs were lower for other categories.
The fee for BDS and BHMS colleges is less than MBBS courses in both private and government colleges. Rest different institutes hav their own fee structures. Hope this answers your query.
All the best for your future.
