In arts you will get 3 core subjects and 1 compulsory language. And in second year You have to chose a skill program like I am student at present and have english-French-Philosophy in core and russian as compulsory language and my skill is speaking french

Reading materials for BHU UG entrance exam for arts section are varied and easily available. You can particularly go through three things:
1. BHU entrance exam books of Arihant Publications (this will cover the entire syllabus)
2. Lucent's general studies book will be very handy and helpful that will guide you in G.K preparation
3. Solve the past 5 five years BHU UG social sciences Entrance papers that are available on the University website (www.bhu.ac.in)
