Hello,
NIT Meghalaya is one of the newest NITs established by government of India and is an Institute of National Importance. This NIT was established in 2010 and is still in its initial phases. The strength of students is considerably less. The lack of alumni network and its location in far northeast somewhat dampens your chances for things like GATE Preparation, IES preparation (very common among civil students). Nevertheless, due to immense investment by GoI and special location in Northeast, it is looked after very well and you can definitely go on for the NIT tag here. I will still warn you there will be no core companies coming. And there will be very less chance for industrial exposure from college. With some effort though, you can secure a coding job and that's the best you can get for placements.
Thank You.
