With an All India Rank (AIR) of 46,000 in NEET PG 2025 and belonging to the SC category, your daughter has a chance to secure a seat, but General Surgery in government colleges under All India Quota (AIQ) at this rank is quite difficult.

• General Surgery in government colleges usually closes for SC category around AIR 15,000–25,000 (varies by state and year).

• At AIR 46,000 (SC), she may still get Diploma courses (Anesthesia, ENT, Ophthalmology), or MD/MS in Pre/Para-clinical branches (like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Forensic, Microbiology, Pharmacology).

Your daughter has scored around 46,000 rank in NEET PG and belongs to SC category. Looking at previous years’ cut-offs, chances in General Surgery in top government colleges may be slightly tough at this rank, but she definitely has scope in some state government colleges and peripheral medical colleges, especially under the SC quota.

It will also depend on the state domicile and counselling round. In the later rounds (2nd or mop-up), sometimes seats in clinical branches like General Surgery become available. Under All India Quota (AIQ) 50% seats, at this rank, getting General Surgery may be bit difficult, but under state quota (SC reservation) you can have decent chances depending on the number of Government medical colleges in your state, as in some cases you can have >20 government medical colleges like in Maharashtra, and under SC reservation, the chances are improving significantly. I would advise looking at the previous years SC category cutoff ranks in your state to get an idea of your chances.
