Admission in Harcourt Butler Technical University, (HBTU) Kanpur will be done on basis of merit of JEE Main examination result.
A Candidate who is domicile of Uttar Pradesh i.e. he / she has passed the 10+2 qualifying examination from Institution located in U.P. is eligible for counselling .
DEFENCE QUOTA - Sons / Daughters of Defence Personnel of U.P. either retired (superannuated) or k illed / Disabled in action or Defence Personnel posted in U.P. / Defence Personnel permanent resident of U.P. and posted outside U.P have 5% seats reserved.

Defence Quota in HBTU
Candidates who are wards of Defence Personnel settled or posted in UP on the date of Entrance Examination of JEE (Mains) or Officers /Employees of All India Services belonging to UP Cadre are eligible in this quota. They are required to produce relevant Certificate to claim the benefit.
Therefore, in order to be eligible for admission under defence quota in HBTU, you'll have to fulfil the above mentioned criteria.
