Hello Aspirant,
You will be able to give GATE examination in the February month of your eight semester i.e. in 4th year. The syllabus is pretty much the sams for every year with alteration of some topics. It includes the subjects you've studied in your B.Tech and also includes English, Reasoning and Mathematics. You can either join some coaching or purchase any online course and also self preparation. This is upto you. Whatever you feel like you're most comfortable with.
