In CBSE Class 10, each subject carries 100 marks — 80 marks theory and 20 marks internal assessment . To pass a subject, a student must score at least 33% overall (theory + internal) and 33% separately in theory. For example, if you score 26/80 in theory and 15/20 in internal, your total is 41/100, which is a pass since it crosses 33%. If you fail to secure 33% in theory alone, you are considered “compartment.” Overall, you need to pass in 5 main subjects to be declared “Pass” in CBSE Class 10.
