There are numerous methods to join the police force. Depending on the post you wish to have, these methods vary greatly. Below listed are some of the methods through which you can join the Indian Police force:-

• UPSC-CSE - If you wish to become an ACP, ASP, DCP, IGP, DGP, DIP, you need to do so by appearing for the UPSC examination and joining the IPS sector after getting selected. Apart from this, you can also join various intelligence agencies of the country.
• SSC-Constable - If you wish to join the police force immediately after your 10+2, you can apply for this examination. The age limit to appear for this examination is 18-22.
• SPSC-CSE - This exam is similar to UPSC, but is conducted on state level. The posting is usually intrastate as well.

These exams are usually very competitive as many people wish to join the police force. The recruitment process consists of written exams, physical tests and interviews.

You need to specify the post which you aspire to get in the police department in order to know the process to get through. This is because, the eligibilities differ accordingly. The minimum Eligibility is class 12th and above. In order to join the posts such as SP or ASP or DSP you need to clear IPS examination. There are other exams for other posts.
