How is indraprastha university for law?
DEAR ASPIRANT,
Indeed, IP university is top rated and renowned university in India with great placement history. The minimum qualification is 12th passed with 50% marks.
Age limit of SC/ ST/ OBC candidates is 22 years.
consider the advantages and disadvantages of GGSIP University’s 5 Year Law program.
ADVANTAGES -
The Delhi factor and the abundance of opportunities. We have all big law firms, top lawyers, and all the courts and tribunals here. From 7 District Courts to High Court to Different Tribunals to the Supreme Court. For someone who wants to get into litigation, Delhi is the best place to be.
Managing your internships while with IPU is not a very difficult task.
The Delhi factor also has abundant co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. You can participate in Debates, quizzes, and other competitions. You can also attend guest lectures which are organised at various colleges and organisations. There are at least 2 conferences/seminars which are organised in one part of the Delhi or another and that provides you with a good networking opportunity.
If you come from a law bg, you can really use it to your advantage and make the best out of your time at law school.
DISADVANTAGES -
The curriculum isn’t that great. You won’t ever feel pressured to be well prepared for exams. You can crack them without studying a lot.
The marking scheme of GGSIPU is just pathetic. IMHO, papers are marked arbitrarily.
The quality of teaching and the quality of students isn’t great at all the constituent colleges of GGSIPU.
For your masters your college would matter to an extent and if you are not from either USLLS or Amity Law School, you might not be considered. Unless of course, your CV is kick-ass.
Getting employment at Tier-1 firms is a big task for students of GGSIPU. Many Tier-1 firms follow an ‘Only NLU’ policy. On the other hand, only a handful of GGSIPU students secure PPOs at big firms with or without contacts.
