The eligibilty criteria for JEE mains clearly specifies 3 attempts whereas for JEE Advanced you are allowed to take two consecutive attemptsonly.
You need valid JEE mains score to qualify for JEE advanced and minimum of 75% aggregated marks in Class 12th with all five subjects into consideration for general category.
Your date of birth should be before October 1st, 1994 for JEE advanced.
Both exams are accepted by different institutions and has various differneces mentioed below to clear all doubts.

You can give Jee main exam thrice whereas Jee advanced can be given twice consecutively when you are in 12th. Also, if a student gives Jee main but not advanced in same year then it would also be counted and he/she will miss one chance.
