Hello,
For 96 percentile you have to score between 280-300. As per previous year you can do it with 280 marks but it depends on how the exam will be conducted in the coming year. So a mark above 280 will be a safe range to get a percentile 96 in jee mains. Percentile is calculated on the basis of students who have appeared and you get a percentile on the basis of your performance.
A 96 percentile will give you a rank above 10K for which you will not be eligible for any NIT,IIITs,GFITs unless you have a reservation category.
So try to score above 310-320 so that you can get into top NIT and you will be also eligible for JEE advance and you can clear it with a decent mark for which you will get an admission in TOP IITs.
It's not easy to secure that much as jee is one of the toughest exam but you can and you have time to increase your performance and get best from better.
Hope it helps!
