Hello Shruti,

You need to score more then 130 marks in MHT CET to get lower branch in VJTI and more then 156 marks to get core branches in general category. (It is based on 2017 cut off in CAP Round).

It is very important to follow a meticulous process for getting a good rank. My first advice will be to read, understand & re-read the state board text books.

Try to solve every objective question in chemistry books . Solve the question which are in the middle of text/lesson for clearing concept. Try to read and understand the complete textbook . You may also attempt to answer the question at the back of lesson to clear your concepts . Once your concept are clear you will start to remember formulas and answering objective question will be easy. Here are some strategies that can help you in your preparation days :

1. Test Taking :

  •  Remember that the CET is a more of a pattern recognition and high reflex demanding exam. If you have practiced tonnes of multiple choice questions again and again, you will be able to get them right in the exam hall within the stipulated time.
  • Take a full length test (PCM) everyday ( starting from the mid of March) simulating the exam atmosphere at home. Solving full length tests help you build confidence and endurance. I feel this is the most effective strategy for preparation.

2. Read text book :

  • Do read your HSC textbooks thoroughly from cover to cover especially from Physics and Chemistry. See that no concept is left unattended.

3. Chemistry Reactions, Maths and Physics formulae :

  •  Make it a habit of practicing chemical reactions on a daily basis till the exam date.
  • Work on retro synthesis (i.e. breaking down the product and retracing its path of formation). This will help you in identifying the missing products/reactants in the questions.
  • Make a separate book for Maths and Physics formulae and keep revising them 4–5 times everyday.
  • More than 40–50 % of the questions are direct/indirectly related to a particular formula. You don’t want to miss on that.

4. Past Year Papers :

  • Some questions keep repeating every year. So do make it a point to solve the past 5–7 years question papers.
  •  Keep revising them again and again.

Hope this helps!!

Best of luck for the exam. And stay calm & stay happy :)
