Hello aspirant,

Usmle steps needs a lot of time and energy and the full focus of the aspirant. Time taken for any exam varies among various students . Preparing for an exam depends on the pace and time the candidate can dedicate. It also includes that how far the aspirant is able to understand the exam pattern.

Normally a period of 6-8 months is necessary for Step 1 but this also varies. Some students can take only 4-5 months to finish it.

Step 2 requires atleast 4 months of preparation but this step is relatively easier than step 1.

Step CS or Step 3 is the shortest preparing exam which takes about just 20 to 30 days.

So usually a total of 1 year to 1 and half year can be taken for finishing all steps. On a personal front you should set your own pace in which you are comfortable and prepare for the steps in your own way. Usmle is just an exam. Aspirants will do well if they analyse well and prepare with a little guidance. At last don't compare yourself with others, everybody has different capabilities and strength.

Hope this helps,

All the Best!!
