Hey!

After completing Class 12, anyone interested in pursuing medicine as a profession can enrol in the Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). In India, BAMS is an undergraduate medical school based on Ayurveda, a traditional healing technique. The BAMS programme covers all aspects of 'Ashtanga Ayurveda,' as well as scientific developments in contemporary medicine and thorough practical instruction. The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) is the governing authority for Ayurveda education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as the practise of Ayurvedic medicine in India. The results acquired in the NEET test will be used to determine admission to BAMS programmes. Aside from that, candidates must meet specific BAMS eligibility requirements set forth by the authorities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be admitted to the BAMS programme, candidates must meet specific qualifying requirements. The following are some fundamental BAMS eligibility criteria.

Candidates must have passed a recognised board's Class 12 or equivalent test in science courses (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) and English core in both Class 11 and 12.

At the time of entrance, he or she must have reached the age of 17.

In order to be considered for the general category, an aspirant must achieve a 50 percent aggregate in their Class 12 Board examination. In contrast, the qualifying percentage for SC/ST/OBC candidates is 40%.

To be admitted to the BAMS programme, candidates must have passed NEET with a minimum qualifying cutoff percentage.

For foreign students, any other equivalent qualification approved by the University will be allowed.

Admission procedure

The NEET UG score and related rank will be used to determine admission to BAMS courses. As a result, applicants must pass the National Testing Agency's NEET exam (NTA). The Central Counselling Committee for Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Siddha, and Homeopathy Admissions plays a critical role in the allotment of seats in Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Siddha, and Homeopathy colleges.

NEET Required Percentile

Minimum required percentile

  • General (UR)- 50th Percentile
  • SC/ST/OBC(including PwD of SC/ ST/ OBC)- 40th Percentile
  • UR PwD- 45th Percentile

NTA, on the other hand, is exclusively responsible for conducting NEET and preparing the NEET merit list. A state-by-state counselling approach will be used to determine admittance to BAMS. Each state will provide its own state merit rank based on the NEET merit list for the BAMS admission procedure, for which candidates will be needed to fill out an application form.
