Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra was established in the year 1999 under an Act of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislature. The campus spreads across 470 acres of land. The establishment of SMVDU is granted by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. SMVDU is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act of 1956. The University offers undergraduate (B.Tech, B.Arch), postgraduate (M.Tech, M.Sc,MA,MBA), dual degree and doctoral (Ph.D) courses in various domains.
