English is one of the major subjects for CHSL and any other SSC related exam. Tier-1 contains 25 Questions of English with a weightage of 50 marks. If you are well prepared in English then you can easily score around 45 marks in just 10-12 minutes . Some of the tips to prepare for English are:
1) Buy a good English grammar book for a thorough understanding of rules and conceps. Some of the books recommended by toppers are,
a. Objective General English by S.P Bakshi( Grammar rules+vocabulary and idioms+practice questions)
b. Word Power made easy by Norman Lewis(Vocabulary+ antonym,synonym+spellings)
2.Develop the habit of reading a good English newspaper like The Hindu, Indian Express, Hindustan Times etc. This will improve your reading and comprehension skills and you also get aware about current affairs.
3. Look up for online mock tests and previous years question papers for competitive exams and practice solving them as much as you can. Also be careful about the time management.
