Engineering is mostly  application based. Understand the concepts being taught in your class and apply it in your examinations. You need to be very clear with concepts to apply. 

Since you are CSE student you need to practice languages and try participating in tests conducted by geeksforgeeks, hackerrank, hackerearth and many more.
