If you have not secure good marks in JEE Main this year you can apply in private colleges in states like Haryana, UP, West Bengal, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra through JEE Main.
You can also try in top private colleges like BITSAT, SRM, VIT and Manipal if you have applied for the application form.
If you want to take admission in NITs only you can take a drop for a year.

1- You should be born on or after 1 oct, 1992.
2- You should have passed 12th class in 2016 0r 2017
3- You can only avail 3 attempts in JEE Main
Eligibility criteria can also be changed next year. So, you can wait for the official notification.
If 2018 will be your 2nd attempt then you will be eligible.
