I am a married woman. I belong to General category. But my in-laws belong to OBC category. Now, am I eligible or not for getting an EWS certificate?

Hello ma'am,

There is no role of category in the allotment of economical weaker section (EWS) certificate, the eligibility to get a EWS certificate are:

  • Candidate's annual family income must be less than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum .
  • Their family must not own more than 5 acres of agriculture land.
  • The residential flat area should be below 1000 sq ft.

The necessary EWS Certificate documents required to apply for the application form are listed here.

  1. Passport-sized photograph.
  2. Aadhaar card.
  3. ID Proof (Pan card, Voter ID, etc.)
  4. Land/property documents.
  5. Affidavit/Self Declaration.
  6. Residential proof/Domicile Certificate.

You can get the EWS certificate from your local government authority (Tehsil) . The application for the issue of an EWS certificate can be submitted online or offline. It totally depends upon the state government.
