142 seems to be a decent score to qualify for NTSE stage 1 from Uttar Pradesh. However, the final selection will depend on the cutoff released by the state. The NTSE Uttar Pradesh result 2019 is expected to be out this week.

If you score above 80% above marks then you have the chance to qualify for the next stage .

Since your score is not above 80% you cannot qualify for the next stage...

National Talent Search Exam is conducted ever year for class 10th students to grant scholarships to meritorious students. It is a 2 stage exam where the first stage is conducted by the concerned state authorities while the stage 2 is conducted by the NCERT. Only candidates who qualify stage 1 are eligible for stage 2.

As for cutoffs and your query, generally in Uttar Pradesh, the cutoff for general category candidates is 40% of 200 marks, i.e, the candidate must have scoed at least 40 in both SAT and MAT sections and above 80 overall. So, considering this cutoff, you should be able to qualify for stage 2.
