Hello aspirant,
I suggest you to better start your preparation in 2 nd year itself , since the main core subject starts from the 2nd year and hence it will be very easy for you to suceed in attempting the exam .
Also , refer previous year gate mock papers parallely when you are reading the particular topic
It enhances your preparation
