See as such there's nothing like a better career and there's no comparison between BTech and BCA. Both are equivalent at their respective places. It's all about liking . If you like computers, their application etc then you must go for bca. Whereas if you like to understand how and why these things are happening (in depth knowledge) then you must go for engineering. As per your rank, it is not possible to get any seat in any of the NITs or IIITs unless and until you have a category quota.
