I belong to the OBC-CL category, can I give the CAT exam through the General category?

Yes, you need to choose general Category.
This is because,
Reservation is only for non - creamy layer but you belong to cl i. e creamy layer.

Creamy layer OBC candidates are those whose parents annual income is more than 8 lakhs per annum and they are not eligible for reservation

obc ncl i. e Obc non creamy layer are those candidates whose parents annual income is less than 8 lakh per annum and they are eligible for reservation

To be eligible for CAT ,

you need a Bachelor's/graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

you must have got at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent CGPA in your graduation . SC/ST/PH students need only at least 45 percentage in Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline to be eligible .

Candidates who are in the final year of their graduation are also eligible for CAT examination.

There is no age restriction to be eligible

It is not mandatory to have work experience to be eligible
