If the drop is actually taken voluntarily and not as a result of external circumstances, it will be helpful. Taking a drop allows you to psychologically be ready for the strain that will soon be present at medical institutions.
Additionally, it might be challenging to study for both the boards and NEET at the same time. If you are aware of your strengths and limitations, taking a year off is a wise choice.
