Based on the branch you are getting and the previous years cut offs, it is improbable that you will get your preferred branch. Also, you should have filled it in your JoSAA provisional seat allotment list, so that if in case you have chance, you may get it.
The other way possible is that you take up Engineering physics and then try for a branch change. The criteria for branch change varies from college to college. But the basic necessity being getting a high pointer, and also the vacancy in the desired branch. So, study hard in your first year and try to achieve your preferred branch.

Yes, you can do that when you go for counselling. If with your score, the selected branch is available, you will get it. Just make sure you put in first on your preference list. If the counselling has been done, go to the college and talk about the course you want to pursue and the reason for your choice.
