hi ,

With a score of 22.33 marks in the GATE 2025 Mechanical Engineering exam and belonging to the SC category, let's evaluate your eligibility for M.Tech admissions.

Category Qualifying Cutoff Marks
General 28.6
OBC-NCL 25.7
SC/ST/PwD 19.0

Your score of 22.33 exceeds the SC category qualifying cutoff of 19.0, making you eligible to apply for M.Tech programs.

getting admission in IITs and NITs with your score must be challenging so instead you could try for other state institutions or colleges .

With 22.33 marks in Mechanical Engineering and being an SC category student, getting a seat in IIT or NIT is possible, but it depends on various factors like the GATE cutoff, college-specific cutoffs, and seat availability.

To give you a better idea, here are some general insights:

- IITs: The GATE cutoff for IITs varies by institute and department. For Mechanical Engineering, the cutoff can range from 600 to 800.

- NITs: NITs also have varying cutoffs, but generally, they are lower than IITs.

Considering your score, here are some potential options:

- NITs: You may have a good chance of getting into NITs like NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, or NIT Suratkal.

- IITs: Although it's challenging, you might still get into some IITs like IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, or IIT Kanpur, depending on their specific cutoffs and seat availability.

As for the best college to complete M.Tech, it ultimately depends on your preferences and goals. However, here are some top options to consider:

- IIT Bombay: Known for its strong research focus and excellent placements.

- IIT Madras: Offers a well-rounded M.Tech program with good industry connections.

- NIT Trichy: A reputable institution with a strong Mechanical Engineering department.

Keep in mind that these are just a few examples, and there are many other excellent colleges to consider. Research each option thoroughly, and prioritize factors like faculty expertise, research opportunities, and placement records.

To increase your chances of getting into a top college, make sure to:

- Check the college's website: Verify their cutoffs, admission process, and eligibility criteria.

- Register for COAP: The Common Offer Acceptance Portal is used for IIT M.Tech admissions.

- Prepare for counseling: Be ready to make informed choices during the counseling process.

Stay positive, and best of luck with your M.Tech journey!

Hello,

With 22.33 marks in GATE (Mechanical) and SC category, getting into IITs might be tough, but you have chances in some NITs and other good institutes.

Among NITs, NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, and NIT Surathkal are good options. If you're open to other institutes, some state universities and IIITs may also offer good M.Tech programs. You can apply to multiple institutes to increase your chances.

You can use our GATE College Predictor Tool to predict which college you can get based on your score.
