if you have rank less than 500 by any category than it will be possible. number of seats in NITs,IITs,IIITs are in come 500 odd numbers and candidates are lakhs in number.
you can go for private institute or state level engineering colleges for engineering.

Yes you can expect a low ranked NIT college , it also depends on your rank you got for the criteria of the college branch .
