For a general category student to get into NITs, he should score above 90 percentile and 80 percentile for reserved categories. Sometimes, being a reserved category students, even after scoring 85 percentile, no assurance is given that he'd bag a NIT. Therefore, to be on a safe side irrespectiveof the category, 90 percentile is mandatory. You may or may not get into the college you want to with 86.17%
