Hello Ratan!

Congratulations for your score. So you have got 98.6 percentile in JE Mains exam. First understanding the percentile system is important. Lets take an example, if you have got 90 percentile, it means that you have scored more than 90% candidates. So now since you have got 98.6 percentile, it means that you have scored better than 98.6% candidates.

The total number of students appeared for JEE Mains January Session was 9.65 lakh.

You are above 98.6% students i.e. you have performed better than (.986* 965000)= 9,51,490.

So your approximately rank will be 9,65,000-9,51,490= 13,510

Last year, the closing rank for CSE in NIT TIRCHI was 4041 in 2018 and 4912 in 2017. The closing rank are of General homestate candidates.

So friend as you can see the gap between your rank and closing rank for CSE in NIT TIRCHI, it seems tough for you to get seat. But don't lose hope. Perform even better in April session and you will surely get your dream college and branch.

Hope this will help you.

Thanks!

Hello Candidate,
NTA have not officially declared any institute wise cut off lists yet for 2019 but using previous years data we can predict your chances.
According to your mentioned rank your general category rank will be around 12.2k.
Last year the closing rank for CSE at NIT Tirchy ( open category/ home state quota) was  4041, so you have negligible chances of getting CSE. However you have high chances of getting Mechanical, civil and metallurgical engineering at NIT Tirchy.
All the best :)

Hi dear,

You have got 98.6 percentile that means your rank should be around 12k you can also calculate as

Rank=(100-your percentile)×900000÷100

With this rank you have negligible chance to get NIT Trichy.last year cutoff for NIT trTric was around 4k for home state.you can check here

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff-for-nit-trichy/amp

Hope it helps

Hey,

you have chances of getting into nit trichy in cs branch. But for now nothing can be said with surety. The next session of jee mains exam will be held in April. As more number of students will appear for the exam the present percentile and ranks would change. So I would suggest you to wait for april for the final result.
