Hello Aspirant,
No, you cannot change your category after the JEE Main exam . The category you selected while filling out the form (General) will be considered for the final result and rank list.
However, you
may get EWS benefits in JEE Advanced and JoSAA counseling
if NTA allows category correction during the result phase or if JoSAA permits document verification under EWS.
What You Can Do:
-
Check for a correction window after the April exam (if NTA allows).
- For JEE Advanced & JoSAA Counseling: You can apply as an EWS candidate if your certificate is issued before the deadline.
If no correction is allowed, your JEE Main rank will remain under General, but you can still use the EWS certificate for JEE Advanced and college admissions if permitted.
I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.
Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.
