Hello Amal,
I'm sorry to say this, while you do have decent rank, it isn't enough to get admission in NITs or CFTIs. In order to have the slightest chance at the premier institutions like NITs, you need to have 1000AIR for general and 1500 for SC/STs.
From what I can tell, you have cleared the exam by a margin. According to previous year cutoffs, you have no chance at the aforementioned institutions, and this year, the cut off isn't expected to fall anyway because of a higher number of candidates appeared for the exam this year, compared to 2018, and the average difficulty of the paper for most subjects.
Don't worry, it's not as bad as it sounds. If you're OBC or SC/ST then you have a good chance at many top colleges at state-level. Try for colleges in Andra Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Some of the top colleges accept candidates based on scores attained in state-level entrance exams like APPGCET and KCET, but eligible GATE candidates can get direct admission without appearing for these exams. Hence, you are eligible to apply for admission.
Best of luck. Let me know in the comment if you want more information regarding the same.
