Hello mahwish,

Neet is the sole entrance test for admission to MBBS  and other medical and paramedical courses in India. The exam is organised by the National Testing Agency.

Admissions through NEET are basically categorised in two types of quota i.e., All India Quota (AIQ) and State Level Quota. All India Quota comprises 15 per cent of the overall seats and the rest of the 85 per cent are filled under state-level quota.

As per your question, you have got 498 marks in neet which is a good score, you can get  MBBS seat under state quota or private college very easily but not under AIQ government seat. As you belong to general category so its quite difficult to predict about AIQ but can't  promise about it as cut-off changes year to year.

Hope this will help you a lot,

Thank you.

Hello,

With 498 marks, getting mbbs seat is impossible!! But can get bds. Here is a list of all government medical colleges in Bihar and their respective cut offs for admission under the 85% State quota for in 2018

Considering your rank you don't seem to have any chance for admission in any government medical colleges in Bihar

  • Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Bhagalpur -450
  • Nalanda Medical College, Patna- 454
  • Government Medical College, Bettiah- 451
  • Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences, Pawapuri, Nalanda -452
  • Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sheikhpura, Patna - 465
  • Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College, Gaya -454
  • Sri Krishna Medical College, Muzaffarpur- 448

You do have a chance to get a government MBBS or BDS colleges with this marks. The cutoffs of Bihar generally ranges around 470.So you do have a chance accordingly. Check the previous year cutoffs of various colleges to get an idea about your chances. You have chances to get a good government MBBS or BDS colleges through state quota more than AIQ.

However the trends differ every year based on the questions pattern, difficulty of questions, number of students appeared etc.Thank You
