I have not prepared for JEE. Should I drop out for a year in order to prepare?

Hello,

The syllabus for JEE is basically your 11th and 12th topics. So it is not required for you to take a year drop for the preparation. I suggest that you attempt the exam this year, so that if you qualify with good marks then well and good but if not still this attempt will be helpful as it will help you understand how the questions are asked and so you can prepare accordingly for the next year.

So give a try this year and if you are not happy with the results then repeat for another year and prepare well and give the exam.
