I have scored less then 300 in neet exam ,so will I get admission through state rankings in gov Clg ?should I take a drop n write next year?

300 Marks are not bad during the first attempt in NEET. But they won’t be able to get you MBBS seat in a govt or semi-govt (SFI) medical college.


However, besides taking drop, you also have 3 other options,


You can choose BDS or other paramedical branch like physiotherapy, nursing, homeopathy, etc for your career.

Get admission in some private medical college. Yes, you can get a seat in some private medical college, but, with either a huge amount of fees or huge amount of donation. ( Please please read this answer by sir Raghuraj Hegde : Raghuraj Hegde's answer to What is the future of an MBBS doctor from a private medical college?)

Go out of india for completing your MBBS. Here, fees will not be a problem, but returning back to india after completing MBBS (rather MD as they designate in many countries) will be.

If you really believe in yourself and think you’re capable of scoring more next year, taking drop is safe. A lot of hardwork and smart study can improve your NEET score drastically.


Take a good coaching, with a good guidance on preparation. Solve MCQs, test papers, previous year papers, coaching institute material till you’re able to solve an Electric potential sum while bathing or organic chemical reaction mechanism while eating. Yes, you need to have tough preparation coz you’ll be competing with 10 Lac+ candidates for 2nd time.


Get a standard book for bio as NTA will be taking exam from next year onwards. Again, coaching institute material will be best as per my thoughts. It’ll give you basic knowledge + enough extras.


But also remember, a bit of time pass will throw you out of this race because you’ll totally lose self confidence if something goes wrong after 2nd attempt. So, choose wisely what you want to do ahead.

Hello maradagi,

Your marks are not enough for getting seat in government medical college. You can a medical seat in private medical college under management quota. But if you want to get seat only in government colleges, you have to drop a year. Try and score more marks in next year.
