Hi
It doesn't mattet even if you didn't appear for jee main in 2021 . Your number of attempts left depends upon 12th appearing year.
JEE MAIN
One can give JEE Mains entrance examination for a maximum of 3 consecutive years starting from the year of passing 12th board examination.
Now,
JEE Main entrance examination is conducted 4 times a year i.e
*February session
* March session
*April session.
* May session
If your 12th board examination passing year is 2021,
then you are eligible for :-
-
all the four sessions of JEE mains 2021
-
all the four sessions of JEE main 2022
and all the four sessions of jee main 2023
So, if you haven't appeared in jee main 2021, you have 8 attempts left i. e 4 attempts of 2022 and 4 attempts of 2023

JEE ADVANCED
One has a total of two attempts for JEE advanced over two consecutive years starting from the year of appearing for 12th board examination i. e as per , eligibility criteria one is eligible for JEE advanced examination only in the year in which he or she appears for 12th board examination and the next year following it.
So,
With 12th appearing year in 2021
- You are eligible for jee advanced 2021
- And will be eligible for jee advanced 2022.
So, if you don't appear in JEE advanced 2021 you have only one attempt left i. e jee advanced 2022

Thankyou
See you can appear for JEE MAINS for three consecutive years. Thus if you give your first JEE MAINS in 2022 then you are eligible for JEE MAINS 2022,2023
Now JEE Advanced can be given two consecutive year. The year of appearing 12th boards and 1 year post 12th are the two attempts. Thus if you don't give JEE MAINS 2021 then you didn't also give JEE Advanced 2021. As a result you have only one attempt left i.e., JEE Advanced 2022.
