I took ECE due to family pressure but i wanted to take CSE . Anyhow they convinced me to take ECE saying ECE & CSE are approximately same but now i'm in 4th sem and realised they are not same . now the Q is what road should i follow to become an software engineer . what do i do??

It's horrible to know that your ambition's path is diverted. There is nothing to worry about your ECE degree. As you are in your 4th semester this is the right time to focus. Try to incorporate your passion in your subjects. Like, as you said you want to become a software engineer, there are plenty of online training programs in free of cost about building a software or application development. Learn them and try to mix them with your subjects by creating some projects. If possible, you can also contact the CSE staff or Your CSE friends to know how to collaborate your academics knowledge with your ambitions. I am for sure that nowadays companies do not recruit based on our degree but they prefer to know our knowledge learn during the academic period. I would rather prefer to say this is the correct time to catch up your dreams with proper mentoring.
