Here’s the CBSE Class 8 Maths syllabus for 2025 to 26 in simple language:

You will start with rational numbers and learn their properties, how to place them on a number line, and how to find numbers between two rational numbers. Next comes linear equations in one variable where you will solve equations with the variable on both sides and make them simpler.

Then you study quadrilaterals to understand different types like trapezium, parallelogram, rectangle, square, their angles and diagonals. In data handling, you’ll learn ways to collect data, use bar graphs, pie charts, and basic probability.

You will explore squares and square roots, learning how to calculate them and notice patterns. Cubes and cube roots come next, including finding the cube of numbers and understanding their roots. After that, comparing quantities teaches ratio, percentage, profit and loss, sales tax, GST, and compound interest.

Algebraic expressions and identities will cover adding, subtracting, and multiplying expressions and recognizing common identities. Mensuration focuses on finding area, perimeter, surface area, and volume of both flat and 3D shapes like cubes, cuboids, and cylinders.

You will then move to exponents and powers, exploring laws of exponents, negative exponents, and expressing numbers in powers of ten. Direct and inverse proportions deal with how quantities change in relation to each other. Next, factorisation teaches you to break expressions into factors using methods like common factor, grouping, identities, and division.

Finally, introduction to graphs will help you learn how to draw and read linear graphs and use them with real life data.

This syllabus follows the NCERT curriculum. It includes a mix of theory, problem solving, and practical exercises to build strong mathematical skills
